Does Acura Have an Electric Car?

Soaring gas prices have a lot of Denver drivers looking at electric vehicles. It’s no wonder then, that many are wondering when we can see an electrified Acura car. Does Acura have an electric car planned for the near future? Indeed, it does. Development has already begun on a new electric SUV, speculated by some to be called the “ADX” and set to come out in 2024. What will it be like? How much will the Acura electric car cost? What will its specs be? Acura hasn’t released a lot of details. In fact, we don’t even have an officially confirmed name, yet. But we share what we know below.

 

 

Why Does Acura Have an Electric Car Planned?

The current line of Acura SUVs have proven to be pretty popular, especially with Aurora drivers. So, why does Acura have an electric car planned? Acura has announced it intends to focus on an electrified future, and, in fact the automotive industry as a whole seems to be moving in that direction. Further, as many know, Acura is the luxury arm of Honda, which is developing its own electric SUV in conjunction with the new Acura electric car.

What are the Specs of the New Acura Electric Car?

Acura isn’t releasing a lot of specifics. So, the specs below extrapolated from the few details we do know. For instance, the new Acura electric SUV will be based on the global GM EV platform and use Ultium Drive Lithium-ion batteries. These facts give us a partial picture of what we can likely expect:

  • battery pack options between 70 kWh and 100 kWh capacity
  • 300-mile range
  • dual-motor AWD likely available

What Will the New Acura Electric Car Cost?

Experts expect the new Acura electric SUV to start at around $50,000. This is close to the Honda electric SUV, which is planned to start at $45,000. The Acura version will likely be equipped with more luxury features.
