Here’s a look at how the Acura RDX compares to the Audi Q5.

Acura RDX: Better Residual Value after 60 months

The Acura RDX base model with AWD has a starting price that is $4,000 less than the Audi Q5. After 36 months of ownership the Acura RDX and Audi Q5 retain 51% of their value. After 60 months the RDX has a residual value of 38% and the Q5 has 36%. The powertrain warranty on the RDX is longer at 72 months or 70,000 miles, while the Q5’s powertrain warranty is 48 months or 50,000 miles.

The RDX has a 3.5-liter, V6 engine that makes 279 horsepower. The Q5 has a 2-liter, 4-cylinder turbo engine that makes 252 horsepower. The turbo engine in the Audi may be the reason for the better fuel economy and greater torque. The total cargo area in the RDX is slightly better than the Q5 and the cargo area behind the second row is very similar between the two.

Acura RDX: Standard Heated Front Seats

Even though the Audi Q5 has a higher base price than the Acura RDX, the Q5 lacks a 10-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and front sport seats. These are available as upgrades or on higher trim levels. The rearview camera in the RDX is multi-angle. The color display in the Audi is slightly larger at 7 inches instead of 5 inches and the climate control is tri-zone instead of dual-zone as it is in the RDX.

Acura RDX: LED Headlights and Moonroof are Standard

The Acura RDX and Audi Q5 come standard with a remote-linked power tailgate and heated side mirrors. The Q5 lacks a power mooonroof, LED headlights, reverse gear tilt-down mirrors, and hood dampers. The LED headlights and moonroof are available upgrades or are offered on higher trim levels. There is no mention of the hood dampers or reverse gear tilt-down mirrors on the Audi Q5.
