Acura RDX has More Horsepower, Longer Warranty

The BMW X1 xDrive28i has a starting price that is $1,600 less than the starting price of the Acura RDX. After 36 months the residual value of the Acura RDX is at 51%, while the BMW X1 is at 47%. After 60 months the residual value of the RDX is also better at 38%, as compared to the BMW X1’s 34%. The BMW X3 xDrive30i has a higher starting price that the X1 and RDX, with a price of $42,650. The X3’s residual values were not listed. Acura also has a longer powertrain warranty than BMW’s at 72 months or 70,000 miles. BMW’s warranty is 48 months or 56,000 miles.

The Acura RDX comes with a 3.5L V6 engine that makes 279 horsepower. The BMW X1 makes 228 horsepower and the BMW X3 makes 248 horsepower. The BMW’s have a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo engine that make 258 lb.-ft. torque. The RDX engine produces more horsepower, while the BMW’s produces more torque. The BMWs also have a slightly better combined MPG at 25 MPG, versus the Acura’s combined MPG of 22.

The BMW X3 has slightly more total cargo room than the Acura RDX, just 1.4 cubic feet more. The cargo space behind the second row is also the largest in the X3, with it being 2.6 cubic feet more than what the RDX offers.

Acura RDX: Heated Front Seats and Smart Entry are Standard

The base model Acura RDX AWD and the base model BMW X3 come standard with 10-way power driver’s seats, while the BMW X1 comes standard with an 8-way power driver’s seat. Heated front seats are standard on the RDX, but are upgrades on the BMWs. Sport seats are standard in the BMW X1 and the Acura RDX. The push button ignition is standard on all three models as well as a center console front armrest and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The rearview camera in the RDX is multi-view, while in the BMWs it is not. The RDX and X1 come standard with 7 speakers, while the X3 comes standard with 12 speakers. The color display is slightly larger in the BMWs at 6.5 inches versus the RDX’s 5-inch screen. Smart entry is standard on the Acura RDX, while it is an available upgrade on the BMW X3. There is no mention of it on the BMW X1.

Acura RDX: Power Moonroof and LED Headlights Come Standard

The Acura RDX comes standard with hood dampers, while there is no mention of them on the BMW models. All models have heated side mirrors and remote-linked, power tailgates as standard features. Reverse gear tilt-down mirrors come standard on the Acura RDX and BMW X3 models.

Even though the BMW X3 is thousands more than the RDX, it lacks LED headlights and a moonroof as standard features. The moonroof and headlights are available upgrades on the X3 and X1.
